Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - Two Romanian citizens, Ion Iabanji (40), and Iurie Vrabie (37) denied breaking customer data at the state lender Bank BNI by using hidden cameras and routers at a court hearing at the Denpasar District Court on Wednesday.

During a hearing led by Chairman of the panel of judges I Gusti Ngurah Partha Bhargawa, the two defendants, accompanied by a translator before the public prosecutor Hevy and Yulia Wirasningrum, admitted they did not know how to operate the tool because the tool did not belong to them.

"I was asked by Alexsandro to keep the item and get the device (hidden camera and router) from a woman who looked as Indonesian national," Ion Iabanji said.

He said that his coming to Bali on February 17, 2016 just wanted to enjoy vacation with his family and had no intention of committing a crime when he was asked by prosecutor, Hevy.

"I just want to have vacation with family," he added.

Speaking before the judges and prosecutors, the two defendants only admitted that the police confiscated items (hidden cameras and routers) from the hotel room where they were staying.

The defendant Ion admitted after receiving the goods he was called by Alexsandro who was in Muldova, Romania to bring them (goods) at the cost of 180 Euro.

When asked whether they can operate the tools, both Ion and Iure said they did not know.

"I don`t know. I am just an expert in hair cutting," said Ion who claims to work as a manager at a hair salon in Romania.

The trial will resume next week with agenda of reading the prosecutor`s demand.

In this case the two defendants were charged with article 48 paragraph 2 and 1 in conjunction with article 32 paragraph 2 and 1.

The two defendants were also indicted under Article 36 in conjunction with Article 51 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 Year 2016 concerning the amendment to Law Number 11 Year 2008 with regard to Information and Electronic Transactions, in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code (the first and second indictments).

Furthermore are Article 46 paragraphs 3, 2 and 1 jo of Article 30 Paragraph 3, 2 and 1 of Article 36 Jo Article 51 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 11 Year 2008. Thus, both are facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail. (*)
