Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Minister for Communication and Informatics, Rudiantara, has asked ASEAN member countries to commit and collaborate to drive innovation, in order to develop the digital economy by utilizing information and communication technology.
"Innovation is not only to generate new ideas but also to change it to public welfare and economic growth," Rudiantara remarked in the 16th ASEAN Communication and Information Technology Ministerial Meeting in Brunei Darussalam on Friday.
On the occasion, he noted that Indonesia was serious in developing digital economy with the launch of the 14th Economic Policy Package, focusing on e-commerce road map of Indonesia.
"The e-commerce road map is expected to boost economic expansion and improvement of digital society in an efficient and globally connected ways," the minister remarked.
He added that the e-commerce was also expected to create digital technopreneur.
And to support it, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has launched a program to create 1,000 digital startups through the 1,000 Startups National Movement in an effort to make Indonesia "The Digital Energy of Asia," he pointed out. (WDY)
