Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indoenesian police force (Polri) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) are jointly organizing a training program for their personnel to equip them better for the purpose of eradicating corruption.
"Polri has hailed the training program proposed by the KPK," National Police chief General Tito Karnavian said in a written statement received here on Monday.
He noted that Polri is committed to tackling crimes related to corruption and improving coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
Declaring a war against corruption, Tito said it badly affected the life of the people.
He stressed that the police force at present has 22 regional commands and more than 500 resort police commands. He added that they hoped to make KPK a driving force for other agencies to fight corruption.
Around 200 participants attended the training at Padang Barat, Padang, West Sumatra, on Monday.
Besides Tito Karnavian, the opening ceremony of the training was also attended by the deputy attorney general for special crimes, Arminsyah, the chief of KPK, Agus Rahardjo, State Audit Board official Agus Joko Pramono, the head of the Finance and Development Supervision Agency (BPKP) and the head of the Financial Transactions Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK), Muhammad Yusuf, and other police and government officials.(WDY)
