President Inaugurates Terminal Of Sultan Thaha Airport In Jambi

Jambi (Antara Bali)- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated a terminal of the Sultan Thaha Airport in Jambi City, Jambi Province, Sumatra Island, on Thursday.

The Sultan Thaha Airport will serve as a pilot project for the development of other small airports in Indonesia.

The airport project involves overlaying a 10-centimeter-thick surface on the runway, building a terminal measuring 35 thousand square meters, and constructing a parking area measuring 26.5 thousand square meters, with a capacity to accommodate 436 cars and 415 motorcycles.

The cost of constructing the new passenger terminal and parking facility reaches Rp126 billion, while the airport's apron will be built at a cost of Rp110 billion.

The government has also spent Rp16 billion to construct a tower and operations building and Rp67 billion to develop the main and other supporting facilities.

The head of state was accompanied by several ministers during the inauguration ceremony.

President Director of Angkasa Pura II Budi Karya Sumadi affirmed that the airport was expected to serve 70 daily flights this year.

Currently, the airport handles 23 departures and 23 landings.

The Indonesian government is developing small airports to support the presence of major international airports, such as the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport located in Cengkareng, Banten Province. (WDY)
