Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Tourism Ministry is ready to conduct maritime tourism promotions in mainland China and Hong Kong this month to attract foreign tourists from that country.
The Tourism Ministry said in its written statement in Jakarta on Sunday that with its rich maritime potential, Indonesia is trying to attract 1.7 million tourists from mainland China and 125,000 others from Hong Kong this year.
The ministry will organize promotion in the yachter community of Shanghai, China, on June 13, 2016. It targets the Shanghai Marina Club whose members are fond of yacht adventure.
Apart from Shanghai, the ministry will also hold "Wonderful Indonesia" promotions in Guangzhou on June 15 and targets yacht lovers grouped in the Nansha Marina Club.
After that, it will shift its attention to hold "Wonderful Indonesia" promotions in Hong Kong, targeting members of the Heben Haven Yacht Club.
The ministry will promote Indonesia's maritime tourism potential such as coastal zone, underwater and sea zone.
"Two-thirds of the world's coral reefs are found in Indonesian waters. It is very unlucky if we cannot convince yacht communities in in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong so that they could not come to enjoy the Indonesian maritime tourism," said I Gde Pitana, deputy international tourism marketing development of the Ministry of Tourism.
