Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Through the Diving Resort & Travel Expo in Taipei, Taiwan, from June 17-19, 2016, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism will promote its marine tourism to attract more than one thousand foreign tourist visits this year to enjoy the marine beauty of the country.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya remarked here on Thursday that the number of marine-based tourist arrivals to Indonesia is still small, although the potential of country's marine tourism is very large.
"It will be a great loss if we fail to convince the foreign tourists to come and explore the two thirds of world's coral reefs and biodiversity in Indonesia," the minister noted.
Yahya said the marine beauty and biodiversity in Indonesia can contribute to attract more than one thousand foreign tourists this year, the number is expected to grow by four million in 2019.
Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism will continue to promote Indonesia's marine and natural tourism through various activities abroad, including in the Diving Resort & Travel Expo in Taiwan.
Ten main tourists destination being promoted by the government of Indonesia this year are Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Tanjung Kelayang in Bangka-Belitung, Tanjung Lesung in Banten, Thousand Islands in Jakarta, Borobudur in Central Java, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru in East Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, and Morotai in North Maluku.
All these ten main tourist destinations will be promoted in the
Diving & Resort Travel Expo Taiwan, a three-day event to be held from June 17-19 at the Taipei Flora Expo Centre in Taipei, Taiwan.
This event showcases products like Dive Equipment and Manufacturers Water Sport Equipment and Manufacturers Suppliers Wholesalers Exporters Retailers Dive Organisations & Institutions Training Certification Agencies Dive Clubs Travel Agency Tourism Board Hotels and Dive Resorts Live-aboard Dive Operators Underwater Photography and Videography Diving-related Magazine and Electronic Media Commercial Diving Companies etc. in the industry.
More than 50 countries including Indonesia will participate in the event. (WDY)
