Jakarta (Antara Bali)- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called for an increase in investment from the Japanese prefecture of Aichi, particularly in Indonesia's manufacturing and industrial sectors.
Jokowi made the request while receiving a courtesy call from Aichi Governor Hideaki Ohmura in Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday evening.
The head of state also lauded the educational cooperation between the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, and the Prefectural University based on an agreement signed during Governor Ohmura's visit to Indonesia on October 18-23 last year.
The value of Aichi's investment in Indonesia has doubled over the past five years.
Some four thousand Indonesians live in Aichi currently.
The Aichi governor has invited Garuda Indonesia to operate a direct flight to Nagoya. (WDY)
