Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Antara Bali) - Numerous officials from the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs have visited the Riau Islands provincial city of Tanjungpinang to review the preparations of Sail Karimata 2016, according to a local official.
"Some maritime ministry officials representing the central government, came to Tanjungpinang to review the preparation of the sailing event, and to coordinate with the local government for the success of the international maritime event," Riau Islands Tourism Office Chief Guntur Sakti remarked here Friday.
Coordination between the central and local government is important because officials want to know what the local government has to do, and to set the schedule for the Sail Karimata main event, he said.
"The central government wants the main event of sailing on October 28, and we have to adjust to that schedule," Guntur said.
The international maritime event of Sail Karimata 2016 will be hosted jointly by four provinces, namely West Kalimantan, Riau, Bangka-Belitung, and Riau Islands. (WDY)
