Asia Pacific Scout Leaders Summit 2017 To Promote Indonesia

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The tenth Asia-Pacific Regional Scout (APEC) Leaders Summit to be held in Indonesia in April 2017 will prove to be a forum to promote the country in the international arena, the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian National Scout for International Affairs, Ahmad Rusdi, said here on Monday.

"By hosting the tenth Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Leaders Summit, we can show that Indonesia is safe, and is developing across all sectors, such as economy, trade and investment," Ahmad Rusdi added.

The Leaders Summit will be held in Bali from April 19 to 24, 2017.

He remarked that at the summit, Indonesia will present its vision and mission as well as the development of the scout program in the country, including, for instance, involving scouts in drug prevention and national defense.

Ahmad Rusdi hoped that more and more young people will involve themselves in the scout activity in order to raise a generation capable of leading and playing an active role in development.

Earlier, Indonesia hosted an orientation meeting for Committee and Subcommittees for Scouting in Asia-Pacific (Asia Pacific Regional Scout/APRS) for 2015 to 2018 on April 8 to 12, 2016.

The meeting aimed at unifying the vision and mission of scouting activities for the development of scouting programs in the Asia-Pacific region.

The committees and sub-committees were elected during the 25th Asia-Pacific Scout Conference in November 2015 in Gwangju, Korea. (WDY)
