Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Following the success of last year's inaugural Red Meat and Cattle program, a further
65 industry professionals from across Indonesia will undertake five months of study and practical work placements in outback Queensland and in universities around Australia.
The participants from across the cattle industry in Indonesia have been awarded Australia Awards Scholarships under the Indonesia-Australia Partnership on Food Security in the Red Meat and Cattle Sector, according to the Australian Embassy here on its official website.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson said there is a mutual benefit for both Indonesia and Australia to improve the red meat and cattle supply chain to give surety to the industry and to consumers in both countries.
"The live cattle trade is major contributor to the economies of both countries, as well as to the livelihoods and wellbeing of Australians and Indonesians," Grigson said.
He added that the participants will be the future leaders of the industry who will generate ideas and drive innovation for the cattle sector, ensuring better planning, development and management in all aspects of feeding and breeding along the supply chain.
The short course program will be held at the Universities of Queensland, Sydney, and New England as well as at campuses of Technical and Further Education, Queensland, (TAFE QLD) and at feedlots, abattoirs and livestock stations.
The 2016 program is the second wave of Short Course Awards. Last year 50 Indonesian participants took part in the program in Queensland and the Northern Territory. (WDY)
