Indonesia wins world's robot contest in AS

The Indonesian robotics team has won the Trinity College's Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest in Hartford, Connecticut, the United States of America, Director of Student Affairs at the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Didin Wahidin said.

Represented by the students of East Java's Malang-based Muhammadiyah University (UMM), Indonesia emerged the winner in the legged robots category, and runner-up in the wheeled robots category at the contest, he said here on Friday.

"We are so proud of our students' achievements in the world's robot contest. We are going to present them with a token of appreciation," Didin Wahidin said.

The Indonesian robotics team members comprise lfan Achmadillah Fauzi (program designer), Rohmansyah (hardware assembler), and Ken Dedes Maria Khunty (mechanist).

According to lfan Achmadillah Fauzi, good coordination among the team's members was the key to their success at the Trinity College's robot contest.

With good coordination from the start, the Indonesian robotics team could defeat the teams of other countries, including China, he said.

Before departing for the United States of America, this UMM's robot team had won the Indonesian fire fighting home robot contest that the Students Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education held.

Due to the team's achievement at the national level, the UMM students then represented Indonesia at the Trinity College's robot contest.
