State Enterprises With Income Of Less Than Rp1 Trillion To Be Merged

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The government is considering a decision to merge state-owned companies (BUMNs) recording an income of less than Rp1 trillion into larger BUMNs operating in a similar line of business.

"We are considering to issue a regulation that a state company is required to have an annual income of at least Rp1 trillion," Fajar Harry Sampurno, a deputy of the minister of atate enterprises, said.

A state company with income of less than Rp1 trillion a year is considered not efficient, Fajar said in the West Java city of Subang on Thursday.

He said the decision was line with what  President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) himself had said that BUMNs should grow and expand into strong and  healthy companies.

He said there are 18 BUMNs considered  inefficient  and unhealthy that they have to  be merged into other stronger BUMN.

"The final decision lies in the hands of the executive committee," he said. (WDY)
