Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Some of the power plants, which are part of the mega project to generate 35 thousand megawatts (MW) of electricity, will become operational in early 2016, according to the State-owned Electricity Company (PLN).
"In 2016, some of the power plants that are part of the mega project to produce 35 thousand MW will become operational," Director of Corporate Planning of PLN Nike Widyawati affirmed here on Wednesday (Jan. 20).
Widyawati stated that a gas power plant in Gorontalo, with a capacity of 100 MW, is a small part of the mega project to become operational in January 2016.
"Two of the four installations, with a capacity of 50 MW, that we built there, will become operational this month," she revealed.
Nike noted that 17 Power Purchasing Agreements (PPAs) to generate 7,165 MW of electricity were signed.
She explained that with the signing of the 17 PPAs, the number of power plants had increased to 37, with a total generation capacity of 15,533 MW.
"With this addition, we expect that the 35 thousand MW projects would be realized in 2019, and the community would be able to enjoy electricity without outages in 2020," Nike added. (WDY)
