Jayapura, Papua (Antara Bali) - British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik is on a visit to Papua on Wednesday to meet local government officials and the leaders of Cenderawasih University (Uncen) and Papua University (Unipa).
"I am happy to visit Papua for the second time during my term in office as the British ambassador to Indonesia," Malik remarked here on Wednesday.
The British ambassador stated that he was again visiting Papua this time to discuss several issues of mutual interest such as climate change, education, and development.
"I am pleased that Uncen and Unipa will promote cooperation in education and will invite more Papuans to study in Britain including under the Chevening Scholarship," he affirmed.
Malik stated that Britain fully supported Indonesia's territorial integrity and its sovereignty with Papua as part of the country.
"We also support efforts by the Indonesian government and community organizations to overcome problems in Papua," he said, adding that his country hoped that peace and stability would prevail in Papua.
Britain has provided 8.5 million pounds for implementing the program of spatial planning and green investment in Papua province.
The British ambassador noted that the program is aimed at preventing large-scale deforestation and improving spatial planning in the province. (WDY)
