Lifetime Allowances For Athletes To Be Realized In 2016

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports affairs will realize lifetime allowances for outstanding athletes at the 2016 Olympics.

"These allowances will be given to winning athletes only at Olympics, but allowances for the athletes who are successful at the Asian Games and SEA Games will be handed in 2017, depending on the budget," Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi stated here on Monday.

According to him, the allowances will be given to 32 winners of an Olympic athletes from the first Olympics till the last.

The winning athletes in the Olympics will receive monthly allowances, ranging from gold medals amounting Rp20 million, silver Rp15 million, and bronze Rp10 million.

The minister further said that the allowances will be remitted  on every three months, and will not break up until the end of their lives.

In addition, the outstanding athletes with disabilities in the event of games will get bonuses as much as that will be received by the outstanding athletes in Sea Games or Asian games.

Bonuses for these type of athletes with gold medal worth Rp200 million, silver Rp50 million, and bronze Rp25 million.

Indonesia has set a target of sending more than 22 athletes to  compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Meanwhile, two Paralympic athletes have passed qualification,  one athlete at a single table tennis and the rest is weightlifting athlete. (WDY)
