Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian banknote printing company Peruri is cooperating with the Philippines Postal Corporation to print 32.8 million stamps.
"This cooperation encompasses the printing of 32.8 million stamps of the Philippine Fruits edition," Director of Marketing and Business Development of Peruri Atje M. Darjan noted in a press release received by Antara here on Thursday (September 10).
Darjan explained that the contract will be valid for a period of 90 calendar days since the agreement was signed on September 10.
"This is an opportunity to help us expand our reach in the international market" he emphasized.
Peruri took part in the tender process for the printing of stamps and competed with a local company, Amstar Company Inc.
Peruri was declared the winner of the tender, according to the Notice of Award on September 1, 2015.
"Currently, the Philippine stamps are predominantly printed by Amstar Company Inc., but we managed to participate in the tender, and thank God, we won it by offering a more economical price," Darjan remarked.
Peruri is the only state-owned enterprise that is tasked with the duty of printing the currency of the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition to its currency-printing business portfolio, Peruri also boasts of a portfolio of printing other security documents such as passports, stamps, land certificates, excise stamps, and stamp duty.
The Philippines Postal Corporation is a government-owned company engaged in operating the national postal system as well as handling shipping and postal exchanges between nations.
This cooperation can help Peruri expand its market overseas. After Argentina, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, Peruri has set its sights on dominating the ASEAN market.
"For Peruri, this is the first cooperation with the Philippines. Hopefully, they are satisfied with the quality of our plates, and of course, we will get repeat orders," Darjan affirmed. (WDY)
