Seven Countries Participating In Indonesia's Climate Field School

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - At least seven countries are participating in the Training of Trainers Course at Climate Field School organized by the Meteorological, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency of Indonesia on August 25-28, 2015, to enhance food security, a government official said.

"For the second time, the agency has been entrusted with the task of holding the Training of Trainers Course at Climate Field School for Asia-Pacific countries," Head of Meteorological, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency Andi Eka Sakya said on Tuesday.

Representatives from the Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Timor Leste, and Indonesia participated in the event that was held in Citeko, Bogor District of West Java Province, Sakya said in a press release received here.

The training is being organized to share Indonesia's knowledge regarding Climate Field School with nations in the Asia-Pacific region to support food security and to increase agricultural production by adapting to the climate change phenomenon.

During the training, the delegation will learn ways to interpret several terminologies on climate information into easy-to-understand language for farmers.

The agency has been organizing the training since 2011 in 33 provinces in Indonesia.

According to the agency, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has lauded Indonesia for implementing the Climate Field School program as it has been included as one of WMO's programs, which is Global Framework for Climate Services. (WDY)
