State-Owned Companies Urged To Cooperate With Anti-Corruption Body

Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno has appealed to all state-owned companies (BUMNs) in the country to cooperate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to ensure good corporate governance.

"I appeal to all BUMNs without any exceptions to cooperate with the KPK to be knowledgeable about gratifications and signs of corruption (for their prevention)," she said while witnessing the signing of an agreement on anti-cooperation commitment between state-owned plantation company PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III and the anti-graft agency at the State Enterprises Ministry here on Monday.

She hailed the decision of PTPN III, the holding company of 13 other PTPNs, as a move worth being followed by all BUMNs for the sake of ensuring good corporate governance.

"If all companies can identify signs of corruption, they can remind each other about what is allowed and what is prohibited," she pointed out after the ceremony.

This way, Soemarno added, BUMNs, as economic development agents, can directly commit themselves to making Indonesia better in the future.

President Director of PTPN III Bagas Angkasa stated on the occasion that the signing of the agreement will be followed by training in various fields, including the areas of reporting state official wealth, gratification and prevention of corruption, with resource persons from the KPK.

"The agreement also applies to PTPN I, II, IV, and V to XIV," he affirmed.

Angkasa further noted that in the current era of free trade and globalization, competition among companies is unavoidable. Therefore, even a state-owned plantation firm can become an advanced company and grow and develop to support the national economy. (WDY)
