Palestine Thanks Indonesia For Support

Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- The chief Palestinian delegate to the Asian-African Parliamentary Members' Conference, Abdullah, thanked the people and government of Indonesia that have, so far, always supported Palestine's independence.

The people and government of Palestine, he told the press at the parliament building here on Thursday, hope that the Indonesian government soon opens an embassy in Ramalah, Palestine.

"We, the government and people of Palestine, are very grateful for the support the Indonesian government and people have given to Palestinians. We also hope Indonesia soon opens an embassy in Ramalah," he stated.

He presented an invitation from Palestinian Speaker Salem Zanun to his Indonesian counterpart Setya Novanto to visit Palestine to deepen relations between Indonesia and Palestine.

"We hope more Indonesians visit the Al Aqsa Mosque to strengthen our fight to reclaim it," he noted.

Furthermore, Indonesian Deputy House Speaker Fahri Hamzah expressed hope that there would be a new strategy to support Palestine's independence.

He believes that with the old strategy of using arms in the fight, Palestinian people and countries supporting them will not win.

"So far, they have been better in using arms, and as weapons producers, they have used them as trading goods. This strategy must be changed. We must not fight using this method again," he emphasized.

In this context, he suggested that countries that support Palestine's independence, such as Indonesia China, Russia, and others, establish trade relations with Palestine.

"First, an airport must be built in Gaza, financed by countries that support Palestine, after which trade relations can be opened. So far, it has been Israel that has enjoyed trade with Palestine," he pointed out. (WDY)
