RI, Netherlands Agree To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

London (Antara Bali) - Indonesia and the Netherlands have agreed to continue to enhance bilateral cooperation at a mixed economic commission meeting held in the Hague recently to follow up on the joint declaration on comprehensive partnership agreed in 2013.

The meeting was led by Director General of America and Europe of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djan and Dutch Director General of Economic Cooperation Ambassador Simon Smits, Danang Waskito, secretary I for social, cultural and educational affairs of the Indonesian Embassy in the Hague, said on Wednesday.

The meeting was continued with a senior officials meeting also attended by Dutch Director General of Political Affairs Ambassador Wim Geerts, Waskito said.

At the mixed economic commission meeting, both countries agreed to prioritize maritime cooperation as part of Nawacita, a Sanksrit term for nine programs, which serve as the main vision of President Joko Widodos Working Cabinet.

The two delegations to the meeting agreed to hold the third infrastructure forum in the Netherlands soon by involving private parties from the two countries and proposed the creation of an infrastructure, maritime and private sector working group to follow up on the outcome of the meeting.

Dian Triansyah Djani said both countries had committed themselves at the mixed commission meeting to continue to enhance bilateral relations in various fields.
The meeting discussed numerous issues of mutual concern in the economic field, including maritime cooperation, infrastructure development, irrigation management, aviation safety, fishery and agriculture, research and technology, tourism and other strategic fields. (WDY)
