Twelve Foreign Inmates In Bali To Receive Remission

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Some 12 foreign prison inmates in Bali Province are set to receive Christmas remission, according to an official at Bali`s Law and Human Rights Ministry.

"They have fulfilled the requirements for remission and have displayed good behavior during their prison sentence," Head of the Law and Human Rights Office of Bali Kompiang Adnyana said here on Wednesday.

According to him, the foreign inmates to receive remission are Edward Norman Myatt (55) and Renae Lawrence (36), both from Australia; Marisa Castino Gibson (32) and Maria Cecilia Jusay Lopez (32) from the Philippines; Tine Rasmussen (37) from Denmark; and British inmates Julian Anthony Ponder (43) and Paul Beales.

Besides them, two Russian inmates Anton Pudokov (35) and Revaz Tolordava; Manuel Henrique Soares from Timor Leste; Jimmy Cyril Visser from South Africa; and Jan Jacobus Vogel from the Netherlands will also get remission.

He noted that 11 inmates will get one-month reduction in their sentences, while Australian inmate Renae Lawrence will get two-month cut, which will also be the maximum remission that will be delivered officially on Thursday (Dec 25).

While the majority of the inmates were mostly involved in narcotics cases, and those from Timor Leste, South Africa, and the Netherlands were convicted for child sexual abuse. (WDY)
