Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Directorate General of Correction (Ditjen PAS) of Justice and Human Rights Ministry granted remission to 6,491 christian prisoners in the Christmas eve, Tuesday.
Spokesperson of Ditjen PAS of Justice and Human Rights Ministry Akbar Hadi said the remission depended on the inmates' time served in the prison.
Prisoners who will serve for the first five month in the prison will be granted remission and their time will be reduced 15 days, while those who were sentenced to one until two years imprisonment will have their prison time reduced to one month.
The convicted criminals who have longer time served, three until four year and up to five year imprisonment will have their prison time reduced to two months.
The special remission I (RK I) was granted to 6,373 prisoners, they still have to serve in the prison despite reduced time of imprisonment, while 118 others were granted special remission II (RK II) that allow them for immediate release from the prison.(*/DWA/T007)
