Nine Australian Students Get Hamer Scholarship to Study In Indonesia

Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- Nine students from the Australian state of Victoria were given the Hamer Scholarship to study the Indonesian language and culture while staying in the country for nine months.

According to a written statement from the Manpower and Trade Minister of the State of Victoria, Louise Asher, received here on Monday, this scholarship is a partnership event between fellow students and professionals involved that will help its recipients improve their language skills.

"Recipients of the scholarship will gain experience that will help them improve their understanding of the language and culture of each country. This program is also expected to establish good relations and long-term partnerships on the economic and cultural fronts (between the countries involved)," the minister said.

Of the 48 scholarship recipients from Victoria this year, 18 will study in China, 11 in South Korea, 10 in Japan and nine in Indonesia. (WDY)
