Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Nineteen lecturers and students of the Indonesian Fine Arts Institute (ISI) of Denpasar had left for Australia to attend Indonesia's 65th Independence day celebration at the Indonesian embassy in Perth.
"The Bali art team will entertain both Australians and Indonesians in Australia," spokesperson for the Denpasar ISI office Lia Susanthi, who also joined the mission, said on Monday.
She said the group will be in Australia for 5 days until August 20 for organizing a series of events.
Apart from the Indonesian Independence Day celebrations in Perth, the group will also attend a painting exhibition, dancing performance, and a seminar at the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, University of Western Australia.
"The activities are the implementation of an MoU between the ISI of Denpasar and the University of Western Australia signed 4 years ago," said Lia.
The cooperation between ISI and the university had resulted in some beneficial activities, especially teaching and learning matters, added Lia.
One of the Australian Visual Art lecturers, Paul Trinidad, had held a seminar on visual arts and design promotion through the Internet.
The University of Western Australia assists ISI of Denpasar to make websites containing the creations of the students of both Institutions.
Under the cooperation, the students and the lecturers of both educational institutions can fill the creations by displaying their creations in the Web, named "truly bagus".
The activity is a "bridge of culture" which is esthetically meaningful in both languages, English and Bahasa.
According to Lia, the making of the website is to promote the creations of the students and lecturers of both countries to the world.
In the International seminar, ISI's lecturer, Rr. Drs. I Nyoman Artayasa, M. KEs, will be a speaker presenting a paper entitled " Ergonomics and the Three Harmonious Relationships Inspiring Traditional Architecture".
Putu Agus Bratayadnya, S.S., M. Hum, a lecturer of ISI as well, discussed "The color Meaning in Kamasan Painting". Meanwhile, Nyoman Lia Susanti, presents a paper of "Analysis of Communicative Meaning in Kamasan Painting Through Semiotic Approach: Bima Swarga Case Study".
The Rector of ISI Denpasar, Prof. Dr.I Wayan Rai S, M.A., hoped that the realization of the cooperation between the University of Western Australia and ISI of Denpasar served as an actual deed to improve the accountability of the lecturers and the internationalisation process of the Arts Institute.(*)
