Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said reforms movement in Indonesia should not come across with a dead faint after its launch 15 years ago.
"It is the movement that facilitates democracy to run and prevent the return of an authoritarian regime," the minister said in a seminar "15 Years of the Reforms Movement: Contemplation and Challenges" here on Tuesday.
Hatta said that various steps had been taken to smooth the process of democratization and political procedures done in the form concrete transformations and pro-people policies. This all is thanks to the presence of the reforms movement.
The minister said that the reforms movement had given birth to free, direct and fair general elections. It gave a chance for the people to assemble, express aspirations and form associations. (*/M038)
