Abuja (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Nigeria have agreed to share information as part of their committment to eradicating and preventing drug smuggling, involving the citizens of both countries.
The cooperation is stipulated in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was signed during the visit to Abuja by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Saturday, said BNN spokesman Charles Victor Sitorus.
He said that the MoU about the eradication of drugs smuggling was the first for both countries.
"The two countries will follow up the MoU by sharing information about Indonesian drug couriers who are exploited by Nigerian drug traffickers," he said.
He noted that with such a cooperation, Nigerians who involve Indonesians in the drug trafficking can be prevented.
Indonesia has long been a target network of trans-national drug dealers and the users come from various backgrounds and socioeconomic strata. (*/DWA/T007)
