Mamuju (Antara Bali) - Two Chinese companies have invested in the regency of Polewali Mandar (Polman), West Sulawesi, in trading and mining sectors this year.
PT Isco Polman Resources, an export trading company has invested Rp35 billion and PT Hong Thai Nusantara Energi operating in mining and trading invested Rp40 billion, Surung Katta of the regional office of the Capital Investment Coordinating Board, said here Wednesday.
The two Chinese companies are expected to contribute to accelerating the region's economic development, Katta said, adding they have provided jobs for more than 100 local people.
He said Polman is rich in natural resources waiting for development.
"There are potential natural resources in Polman yet untapped. We hope the regional administration is more aggressive in promoting the wealth," he said here on Wednesday.(IGT)
