Jakarta (Antara Bali) - State-owned electricity company PLN is awaiting the completion of the exploration of 12 geothermal projects which are included in Indonesia's second 10,000 MW electricity crash programme, an energy official said.
"We should wait for the results of the explorations in the first place before conducting a feasibility study," Mochamad Sofyan, division head of new and renewable energy of PLN, said here on Wednesday.
He noted that the acceleration of the explorations would determine whether or not their generators could be prepared soon.
The 12 geothermal exploration projects are the Hululais, Sungai Penuh, Kotamobagu, Lumut Balai, Lahendong 5&6, Karaha Bodas 1, Kamojang 5, Wayang Windu, Sarulla 1, Dieng 2&3, Patuha 2&3, and Cibuni.
Mochamad explained that geothermal power plant projects which were included in the second 10,000 MW electricity crash programme totaled 51 units.(IGT)
