Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Australian tourists are the majority of those of the ten countries who have come to Bali in the first five months of 2012.
"Japan, normally the fifth after Australia, is now in fourth place after China and Malaysia," head of the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) I Gede Suarsa said in Denpasar on Sunday.
He said Malaysia which has been fourth, has been promoted to third position and China had been promoted from third to second position.
Some 299.360 Australians had been holidaying in Bali in the five months of 2012, an increase of 8.48 percent compared to the same period in last year's 275.957.
Last year Australians who came to Bali reached 788.664, a 22.85 percent increase compared to last year's 641.979, Gede Suarsa said, adding that Australia contributed 31.99 percent of the total number of foreign tourists to Bali reaching 1.156.424 in the January-May 2012 period, a 9.31 percent increase in the same period of last year's 1.057.957.(*/M038/T007)
