Solo (Antara Bali) - Indonesian lifter Ni Nengah Widiasih broke the ASEAN Paragames' record in the 40 kg women's weightlifting on Saturday.
She was able to make her best performance lifting 87 kilogram above the APG previous record of 85 kilogram.
Ni Nengah first failed when lifting 80 kilogram but then made a success when lifting 87 kilogram.
In the 44 kilogram category meanwhile Philippine Achelen Guion won a gold medal with her best lifting of 75 kilogram. Indonesian Rina Nuryani failed to show her best performance.
In the 48 kg category Vietnamese Dang Thi Linh Phuong won the gold medal for successfully lifting 68 kilogram beating her rival from Thailand Motnok Hat who was only able to lift 63 kilogram.
Indonesian coach Agus Sugiharto said Ni Nengah could actually have made better record unless she was not cheated.
"The referee had clearly fooled the host's athletes. We hope they would be more transparent and have sporting spirit," he said.
Referee Mezher Salim from Iraq said Ne Nengah Widiasih did make the best lifting and deserved a gold medal. "She is the strongest and the best in her class," Mezher said.(*/T007)
