Sports Ministry Not To Intervene In PSSI Anymore

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Youth and Sports Ministry will no longer intervene in the affairs of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), particularly when it comes to running the problematic soccer clubs, its spokesman, Gatot Dewa Broto, said.

"When it comes to certain problematic clubs, we realize that it is the business of the PSSI to run these. So, we will come up with a regulation not to interfere in that," he explained here on Saturday.

The fact that FIFA has revoked the sanction against Indonesia must now prompt the PSSI to resolve the problems related to soccer clubs, including dual management, he argued.

He informed that the ministry will continue to monitor the PSSI so that it manages the national football better.

Commenting on FIFA's decision to revoke the ban on Indonesia taking part in international soccer events, he described it as a gift for the country.

He expressed the hope that there will be harmonious relationship among various PSSI stakeholders in the future.

PSSI Director for Legal Affairs Aristo Pangaribuan stated that the association still has a lot of problems to resolve, including building good communication with the government to prevent a recurrence of such a sanction being imposed. The sanction lasted for almost one year.

"Now is the time to improve the Indonesian football," he said.

FIFA officially revoked its sanction against Indonesia at the start of its congress, held in Mexico on Friday (May 13).  (WDY)
