Jakarta, May (Antara) - The Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) has encouraged the innovation and networking of digital startup industry by conducting "Bekraf Developer Day" in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.

Bekraf Deputy in charge of Infrastructure Hari Santosa Sungkari hoped the event to stimulate new startup companies in animation, games, and software industries from the Balinese young entrepreneurs.

"I wish to see that the development of digital industry in Bali, initiated by the young people, is in accordance with local wisdom. They need to have the spirit to go global," he said in a written statement received by Antara on Sunday (7/5).

Sungkari also encouraged digital industry enthusiasts and the local government to collaborate to make breakthrough to support the development of digital industry.

Meanwhile, Bekraf will work with the central government to fulfill the need of digital infrastructure and its content.

"Bali actually has some good facilities, for example co-working space association and digital lounge. In fact, this province has  'Sanur House" where digital enthusiasts can gather and create some innovation," Sungkari noted.

The development of application technology, game, web, as well as internet of things (IOT) are required to be mastered by digital technology enthusiasts in order not to lag in the progress of information and communication technology.

Application and game industry in Indonesia, without question, will grow fast and bear positive impact in economy and socio cultural.

"Therefore, there will be a need to increase the number and quality of application and game developer," he said.

Chairman of the Indonesian Game Association, Narenda Wicaksono, revealed that enthusiasts of game, animation and programming in Bali were quite encouraging.

To show his commitment to contribute in the development of digital industry in the country, particularly among the young people, Wicaksono is continuously working with Bekraf in creating some related programs.

"We are currently working to compose a game curriculum for the beginners, as well as establishing business incubation for the beginner entrepreneurs. We hope these breakthrough programs will drive the development of digital industry in Indonesia," he said. (*)
