Rotterdam (Antara Bali) - The Dutch government supports Indonesias vision to become the worlds maritime axis and agrees that sea, bay and ocean are the future for all sides concerned.
Dutch Infrastructure and Environment Minister Melanie Schulz made the remarks here on Friday while receiving President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Port of Rotterdam.
Schulz said the Dutch government is very happy with its sea management effort. "It is the pride of the Dutch government to show how to manage sea without destroying the environment," he said.
Upon arrival at the Port of Rotterdam, President Jokowi was greeted by Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and Port of Rotterdam CEO Allard Calestein.
After posing for a group photo at the pier, President Jokowi boarded James Cook ship which brought him and his entourage sailing around the Maasvlakte II complex.
The president sailed from Maasvlakte II pier to Hoek van Holland pier.
Aboard the ship, Jokowi was briefed on the management of the port, including cargo terminal and oil management unit.
During the tour, the president was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja.(WDY)
