"The invitations have been sent to all kingdoms in Indonesia as well as Malaysia and Singapore. President Joko Widodo is scheduled to attend it," King Tallo XIX Muh Akbar Amir Sultan Aliyah Daeng Manaba Karaeng Tanete Dulli Manggau, said here on Sunday.
He said the meeting would discuss three main issues currently being faced by Indonesia, namely narcotic drugs, corruption and terrorism.
Corruption, he said, has become a national issue and along with terrorism is threatening the integrity of NKRI (the Unitary State of Indonesia) while narcotic abuse problem has spread across all walks of life.
"These issues are very serious and therefore, the Traditional Council must move in to help solve the national problems. The Council of Traditional Kingdoms and Sultanates are needed to play a role in it," he said.
Akbar said at the meeting he would also present a royal title award to President Joko Widodo and the late former President Soekarno who would be represented by his daughter Megawati Soekarnoputri.
"As independence pioneers, kings and sultans from across the archipelago and traditional and cultural communities' unifying preserver must take part in overcoming the national problems," he said.
Other national figures are expected to come to the event including the chief of the National Narcotic Agency (BNN), the national police chief, the commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces, the chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission, and a number of cabinet ministers. (WDY)
