"If the internal conflict continues, Golkar will not be able to perform its functions as a political party and may turn into a mass organization," Jusuf Kalla who is also the vice president said while addressing Golkar's national get-together at the office of the party's central executive board here on Sunday night.
He said any party must strive to get power to achieve national ideals and to create public prosperity.
For its part, Golkar must make every effort to obtain power in simultaneous regional elections scheduled for December 9, 2015 by uniting its cadres, he said.
He appealed to all cadres to express gratitude to God as all cadres could attend the national get-together, regardless of their differences.
"Admittedly, technical stance will be needed in the future. We support a technical agreement in the future. We must remember that without unity the ideals of the nation will not be achieved," he said.
The Golkar national get-together initiated by representatives of the party's two camps -- Nurdin Halid and Yorrys Raweyai -- is an initial step of cadre reconciliation.
The event was attended by several Golkar cadres including Jusuf Kalla, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Aburizal Bakrie, Agung Laksono, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Idrus Marham, Zainuddin Amali, Titiek Soeharto, Nurdin Halid, Tantowi Yahya, Fadel Muhammad, Setya Novanto, Fahmi Idris, Priyo Budi Santoso, Leo Nababan, Yorrys Raweyai, Popong Otje Djundjunan, Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, Nurul Arifin, and hundreds of the party's cadres.
