Jakarta (Antara Bali)- The government should use the momentum of Indonesia's 70th anniversary to work hard, smart, and stay focused on pro-people programs for the good of the nation, according to Chairman of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Faction at the Parliament Jazuli Juwaini.

Jazuli added that the PKS faction in parliament would be the first to support the government, as long as its program and policies are pro-people, the legislator said here recently.

If, however, the government's policies only add to the suffering of the people, the PKS faction would take the lead in criticizing and confronting the government, he stated.

The party supports the government's policies on rural development and maritime development, as well as agrarian reform, he added.

He mentioned, though, that a number of the government's policies are far from the reality of its speeches, such as "nawacita", "trisakti" and mental revolution.

"Or it's merely jargon, with a lack of implementation," he stated.

In reality, he noticed that prices have surged as the government has cut subsidies for the public, foreign loans have increased, and some national assets have been sold.

Jazuli urged the government to stay focused on work that helps the public, based on self-reliance and national sovereignty.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officially launched a "Let's Work" national movement earlier this year.

"All of Indonesia's hopes can only be achieved by working," Jokowi said, according to Kompas.com, reiterating a theme from his presidency to mark Indonesia's 70th year of independence celebrated on August 17.

"It's only through work that all nations can achieve prosperity and glory," he said. (WDY)
