For this purpose, Husaini recorded inputs from various government institutions on the revision of law number 18 of 1999 on construction services.
Among the positive inputs he received were those that dealt with the reinforcement and protection of service providers, especially those in the region, the problem of certification, building failures, classification and accreditation of business entities, and human resources and migrant workers in Indonesia.
Based on data, the construction sector accounted for 9.65 percent of the national gross domestic product in 2014. It is considered one of the strategic sectors of the country.
Moreover, Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the House of Representatives Muhidin stated that law number 18 of 1999 on construction services was no longer relevant to the present. One of the inputs on the revision of the law dealt with the protection of local entrepreneurs in facing the ASEAN Economic Community, and the presence of culture and local wisdom in the construction industry.
