Brisbane (Antara Bali) - Vladimir Putin left Australia on Sunday after the G20 summit tense where he faced criticism from countries along the West over Ukraine crisis, saying he had to leave early because he needs to rest.

The Russian leader left the G20 meeting before the final communiqué of the meeting of the weekend was announced, but attended the annual luncheon and praised discussion forum that is "constructive".

Speaking at a press conference shortly before leaving Brisbane, he thanked Tony Abbott on the organization of the meeting, despite Australia's prime minister threatened to criticize him for shooting down aircraft Malaysia Airlines MH17 in Ukraine in July.

Putin in comments quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency added that the decision to leave Brisbane has nothing to do with the Ukrainian crisis.

Instead, he wanted to rest before returning to work during the day in Russia on Monday.

"It took us nine hours to depart from this region to Vladivostok and other nine hours from Vladivostok to Moscow," he said.
