Ali said here on Sunday that the terminal needed a land of 50 hectares but now only 15 hectares had been cleared. The location of the terminal project shared borders with two subdistricts of Tiang Pumpung Kepungut (TPK) and Muara Belati.
He said that the plan to construct the container terminal began in 2007 but it had been hampered by land clearance, of which only 15 hectares had so far been cleared.
However, the 15 hectares can now facilitate the development of the first phase of the project which will be started in 2014, he said. (*/DWA)
