Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Police categorized a bomb at the Ekayana Temple on Mangga Street II in Duri Kepa Village, Jakarta, at 7:01 pm on Sunday, as a low explosive type.
Commissioner General Sutarman, the chief of the Criminal Investigation Board (Kabareskrim) at Indonesia Police Headquarter, said here on Monday the explosion occurred at the temple entrance.
"However, we should investigate the threat to clear up the problem," Sutarman said.
He added that as of Monday morning officers continued gathering evidence found in debris from the explosion.
One person was reported injured by the explosion, suffering minor injuries to his hand, said Sutarman, adding that the victim is being treated by doctors.
Sutarman said officials have not yet determined whether the blast was criminal in nature or a terrorist act. "But we know that such incidents are meant to create fear and panic among the public," Sutarman said.
The explosion occurred at the entrance of the temple after a bag was placed there containing green plastic and weighing three kilograms.
Police believe the bag contained a cell phone, metal flakes, a cable and battery, which exploded and created smoke. (*/DWA)
