"Rupiah is still kept in a safe level hovering between 9,730 to 9,740 per dollar," Samuel Sekuritas' economic Lana Soelistianingsih said here on Tuesday.
The currency traded at the level of 9,735 per US dollar in inter-bank transactions losing slightly by three points from 9,732 on Monday's close.
Lana said the Indonesian economy grew 6.02 percent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year.
"The main growth driver is still the public consumption, which grew 5.17 percent," she said.
She noted, however, the government spending slowed contributing only 0.03 percentage point to the country's economic growth. (*/DWA)
