Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened trade on Thursday with composite index down on lack of positive sentiment on the domestic market.

The BEI index fell 9.10 points or 0.18 percent  to 5,002.50 points  with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.27 percent to  848.38 points.

"The BEI index weakened with minimum positive sentiment in the domestic share market," Samuel Sekuritas' analyst Benedictus Agung said here on Thursday.

Shares that rose in price on Wednesday such as those of banks and consumer goods companies would likely shrink on Thursday on profit taking , he said.

"BEI index is expected to hover around 4,940-5,026 points," Yuganur said.
