President Susilo Bambang Yudhyoyono in a press conference before departing for a tour of two African and two Middle Eastern countries said here on Wednesday that he would encourage increased economic cooperation with the Middle Eastern countries especially in investment.
He said the goal would be one of his agenda during his visit to Saudi Arabia to attend and speak in a business forum in Jeddah.
"There would be an important event namely a business forum to be held in Jeddah where we would seek potential economic cooperation with the Middle East. We wish as a member of G8 and with regard to global investment we could make more concrete cooperation with the Middle East. Therefore we would use the forum well for the benefit of our national economy," he said.
Presidential development and economic aide Firmansyah said President Yudhoyono would invite investors in the Middle East to participate in the infrastructure development in the country.
"The government has set a target of creating one million jobs and this needs investment," he said.(*/DWA)
