The police confirmed that the suspicious object, discovered by the residents at about 6:30 am, was a homemade bomb, weighing about a kilogram and was placed inside cans of paint.
The bomb was discovered by a third grade student on his way to school. The student noticed some white cans covered with black tape while waiting for public transport and immediately reported the suspicious object to the chieftain of Tonipa village, who reported the matter to the police.
By 7 am, military and police officers arrived at the site and an hour later, the Brimob team conducted a safe detonation of the bomb at the site itself.
The bomb was meant to be detonated using a mobile phone to trigger the explosives.(IGT/T007)
