Jakarta (Antara Bali) - PT Mazda Motor Indonesia (MMI), Mazda car agent in Indonesia, said its sales rose from a monthly peak of 1,074 units in June to a new record of 1,294 units in July.
The new regulation requiring a down payment of 25 percent for cars purchased with bank credit does not seem to have its impact on Mazda car market, company's marketing manager Astrid Ariani said.
Bank Indonesia issued the regulation to prevent an increase in non performing loans amid the global financial woes.
The sales in July was 42 percent higher than sales in the same month last year, Astrid said here on Tuesday.
"We never seek to promote sales by offering low down payment. Mazda consumers have been used to paying a 25 percent down payment even before the regulation was issued," she said.
She predicted car sales in the country would not fall after Idul Fitri saying as after Idul Fitri there is Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS).
Sales are expected to fall after IIMS in November or December, she said.
In the IIMS, PT Mazda Motor Indonesia will put in display Mazda products such as Mazda2, Mazda CX-5, Mazda6, seri Mazda BT-50 and CX-9, which are already found on the market and Mazda Biante , a new MPV products of the company.(*/T007)
