Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Police Academy Governor Inspector General Djoko Susilo has been suspended on corruption charges for his alleged role in the procurement of flawed driving simulators by the Traffic Police Corps, while he was its chief in 2011.
"Djoko Susilo has been suspended as he is a suspect in the case. He will be replaced by an acting governor, namely Brigadier General Bambang Usadi, who was formerly serving as the Police Academy's deputy governor," National Police's Communication Bureau Chief Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar said on Saturday.
He added that Djoko has been named as a suspect along with three others, Brigadier General Didik Purnomo, the suspended deputy chief of the Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas), Sukotjo S Bambang, the president director of PT Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia, and Budi Susanto, the director of PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi (CMMA).
Didik Purnomo was the officer responsible for issuing commitment documents for the procurement. PT Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia has been accused of marking up the value of the project along with PT CMMA, which had won the project tender.
The National Police's investigation department (Bareskrim) has also detained four other persons suspected of involvement in the driving simulator procurement project.
National Police Commissioner General Sutarman said on Friday that the suspects in the case will not be turned over to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which had named its own four suspects in the driving simulator project corruption case on Wednesday.
"We have decided to simply name the suspects, DS and friends," KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjojanto said on Wednesday, adding that a group of friends could be held responsible for alleged corruption in a case based on criminal charges.
"The new suspects are BS, SB and DP. BS and SB are from corporations while DP is a state police officer," Widjojanto said.(*/T007)
