Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's corn production rose 6.5 percent year-on-year to 48,326 tons in dry grains in the first four months of the year.
Bali's total production of corn is forecast to rise 2,600 tons or 4.03 percent from last year, I Gede Suarsa, head of the Bali office of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said.
Suarsa said the production rose 2,945 tons in the first four months of the year and it is expected to continue to increase in the rest of the year.
Suarsa attributed the increase in corn production to favorable climate with sufficient rainfalls.
Good fertilization also contributed improving the productivity of the field to 280 kilograms per hectare, he said here on Saturday.
The Bali office of food crop farming service said it has supplied high yield seed variety for farmers in Bali.(*/M038)
