Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo has said the management of the nation's finances should be disciplined in every ministry and institute, so the budget for official trips does not exceed like it did before.
"If there is evidence of fraud, then we need to act fast. I understand that it happens in the ministries and institutions at large," he stated in Jakarta on Monday.
Agus also noted there were many violations made by government officers, which led not only to the expansion of official travel budgets, but also an increase in other budgets.
"We cannot only worry about the official travel budgets, but also others that are more dangerous. There are so many workers who do not comply with the rules and there is a lack of discipline that needs to be fixed," he said.
Agus expressed hope that the role of the general inspector in each ministry and institution would be expanded, so the manipulation of official travel budgets could be minimised.(IGT)
