Bogor (Antara Bali) - A Russian search and rescue team was not allowed to come to the Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash site near Mount Salak in West Java province by the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), according to an official.
"We do not allow the Russian search and rescue team to come to the crash site because we are still able to handle the job on our own. Moreover, we still have five working days left," the chief of the agency's search mission coordinator, Ketut Parwa, said here on Sunday.
The crash site is located at a height of between 2,000 and 2,066 meters above sea level. From that place the team will descend the valley 500 meter deep at a tilt of 85 degrees.
The Russian search and rescue team arrived at Pasir Pogor in Bogor district, West Java, on Saturday evening to join their Indonesian counterparts in the search for remains of the victims of Sukhoi plane that crashed near Mount Salak last Wednesday (May 9).
"The Russian team is still at Pasir Pogor," he added.(IGT)
