Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali exported 433.8 tons of "kakap" (giant bass) in 2011 worth 1.94 million US dollars.
The shipment of the commodity in terms of volume and value had dropped by 2.16 pct and 3.14 pct respectively, public relations chief of the Bali provincial administration I Ketut Teneng said here on Wednesday.
He said the island paradise in 2010 shipped 443.3 tons of kakap worth 2.01 million US dollars.
Kakap exports greatly depend on the catch of the local fishermen and the demand from the foreign market.
Kakap is one of Bali's eleven different fish and marine export products. Kakap exports contributed only 0.39 pct of Bali's total exports worth 497.86 million US dollars in 2011.(IGT)
